I grew up in the 90s and rushing home for afternoon cartoons was the high point of my life. It is no surprise that Batman would become my favorite superhero, especially with the quality that Bruce Timm produced with Batman: The Animated Series. So to hear that Mark Hamill will definitely be retiring as The Joker, that kills me.
It may not come as a surprise to some of you, as Mr. Hamill did say that Arkham City will be the last time he will be reprising the roll as the Joker. However, this doesn’t make my heart ache any less. I have to say, I was so grateful, so ecstatic when I first heard that the cast of Batman TAS would be doing all the voice acting for the new generation of Batman games. This is the end of a great era for Batman, and a great loss of the voice acting world. I will certainly miss you Joker.
Mark Hamill has done the voice for the Joker in all the TV programming Batman series made by Bruce Timm: Batman: The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and Static Shock. He also reprised his role as the Joker in two movies: Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker and Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
When Kevin Conroy retires as Batman, I may die of heartache.
