Zelda fans unite! Nintendo is continuing the celebration of 25 years of Zelda with the release of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition for free, as promised. It can be acquired by going into the free section in DSiWare or on the main screen of the 3DS eShop, but it is only for a limited time.
You better get the game while it’s hot as come February 20th 2012 it will no longer be free. At least they waited until after Valentines Day, amiright?
Zelda: Four Swords was originally released on the Gameboy Advance, way back in 2002, as multiplayer add-on for a Link to the Past. It required a special link cable and required at least one other player to actual play the game. The title also features come capabilities with Gamecube remastering of the game.
Since A Link to the Past will not come bundled with this version the game has been tweaked to allow for single-player gameplay, allowing players to control both Links. Also, gone is the need for any sort of cables as the DSi and 3DS both support Wifi Ad-hoc gameplay. In addition to these nice enhancements the game also features some bonus levels.
Hop on your closest Wi-fi network and download this while you can, though you do have a bit of time. It is surprising fun once you get into, though it may seem weird if you only used to traditional Zelda gameplay. Definitely worth the pricetag.
