Aside from Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest there aren’t many other RPGs that are so widely known from the SNES era as Chrono Trigger. Though it did not bring about an entire series, merely a well received sequel, it is still touted as redefining the way RPGs are played. Now, for those who missed out the original SNES version, the PSOne remastering, the Virtual Console form, or DS re-release you now have the chance to experience the timeless classic via the PSN.
Chrono Trigger follows Crono and his companions across time and space to stop an evil that disrupting it. It featured enemies that were viewable before the battle scene as opposed to random battles and also was the first turn-based RPG to have attacks that combined the power all heroes at once.
The PSN version is the PSOne version of the game featuring the FMV(full motion video) cutscenes that were not possible on the SNES version as well as a couple bonuses that can be found after completing certain endings of the game (there are many different endings).
The game will be available to all those in North America October 4th, which is this coming Tuesday.
As it is one of my favourite games of all time I will likely buy it again just to have another way to play it.
