With the awe factor of phones featuring 1GHz or 1.2GHz dual core processors settling down, the timing seemed to be right for the announcement of something larger. HTC capitalized on this by announcing the Sensation XE with its prime feature being the monster 1.5GHz dual core processor running inside. In a nutshell, this phone is everything HTC has ever offered so far and so much more!
The chassis, if we can call it that, is the same in the Sensation XE as the recent HTC models. It is built on the same Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon processor, which is the same in the HTC Sensation but the XE has the processor clocked at a significantly higher and quite impressive 1.5GHz. The RAM that is provided is the same, a decent 768MB, which could have been higher, and the GPU is the same Adreno 220 about which there have been no complaints. Even the software and user interface are same, as the XE features the Android Gingerbread modified by HTC to the Sense UI, version 3.5. All this should mean seamless mobile experience for users. It is the usual HTC quality coupled with a much better supporting hardware to ensure no crashes or lags.
The most noticeable aspect of the phone is the huge 4.3” qHD S-LCD screen. Though it is clearly not as crisp or fascinating as the Super AMOLED variety by Samsung, it should do the job in delivering superb visual content for the user. The design is similar to the usual smartphone from HTC; slim yet powerful and very comfortable to hold. There is a Beats Audio logo on the back of the phone, the first phone to come with such branding out of the box. This feature should definitely add quality and class to the audio experience of the phone and the earphones that are to be supplied with it also seem to be of great quality.
Other hardware features include an amazing 8 megapixel camera that has a dual LED flash. The secondary VGA camera should be enough for video calling purposes. The primary camera is also capable of video recording at 1080p. The phone has the usual Quad band connectivity and comes with GPS as well.
In addition the Sensation XE, HTC seems to have some other phones up its sleeve but to know more about those, one will have to wait for the next HTC event.
