My “This is why we can’t have nice things” tag is growing quite rapidly these last few months. A plant that manufactured CDs, DVDs, UMDs, and Blu-Ray disks, not to mention research labs working on new technology, has been razed to the ground by riots in London.
Looters made an attack on the building, and made off with Sony products before fleeing the scene, leaving the Enfield center up in flames. The massive area was burned completely to ashes from the out of control riots that sparked following the shooting death of a drug dealer by the police a few days ago.
The destruction means that 750 people who were employed at the building will be out of work, and has likely cost Sony an extreme sum of money that will make their insurers hide in a closet somewhere in fear of a seven or eight digit number. I just hope these riots are resolved.
