Capcom makes Facebook fan page for Devil May Cry reboot to gauge fan opinions.

Capcom makes Facebook fan page for Devil May Cry reboot to gauge fan opinions.

Rian Quenlin 05 Aug

As the headline says, Capcom wants to gauge the opinions of those who are fans of the Devil May Cry series, and have an interest in the reboot. Select quotes after the jump. They’re alarmingly positive.

I lied.

“Last I checked, Dante was a smartass snarker who took on evil Gods and did not give a fuck. Not a meth addict who has never showered in his life!”

“WTF IS THIS???? “Combine all the best elements of Capcom and Ninja Theory you will have one of the greatest DMC titles ever created… and that people is what we’re working towards.” REALLY CAPCOM??? I DOUBT THAT”

“Honestly, Capcom, you’ve screwed up. You and Ninja Theory ignored every single DMC fan (note I used DMC, not DmC) and backstabbed all of us. And now…you want our advice on how to make this better? No thanks, Capcom…I know you’re bound to go back on everything you’ve said, so why should fans “help” you? You don’t deserve our help, honestly, we can let your game swim and inevitably drown.”

“CAPCOM ARE YOU DEAF? BLIND? WHAT THE FUCK? WE DON’T WAN’T THE “NEW DANTE”.”

The fans have spoken. Dante as gamers know him is a master of arms who can wield swords, gauntlets, firearms, giant scimitar, and a lightning-imbued electric guitar with extreme ease. His high level of agility and power allowing him to openly mock and insult his opponents before proceeding to stomp them into the dirt.

Devil May Cry 2 was very poorly received by gamers because of the shift in tone from Devil May Cry which was rather camp in its lines, but it was the good kind of camp. Dante’s one-liners against monstrous flaming scorpions, demons armed with lightning powers, and his constant mockery of powerful opponents in the middle of a fight were thrown away in 2, which gave Dante a personality of “I really don’t give a damn.”

All Capcom has done with the fan page is release the kraken that has been brewing on the internet and are getting an extremely negative reaction. All they have accomplished is damaging their name and taking Ninja Theory’s with it, and this is on top of the cancellation of an anticipated Mega Man game and other controversies. There are some things companies should not do, and one of them is not stopping what they’re doing and saying “Wait, we need to rethink this.”

The only way they can redeem themselves is if the real Dante shows up and guns that imposter down and pins him to the nearest wall with Rebellion for ruining his good name.

Stupid. This whole thing is crybaby garbage. Fans have spoken? I know a lot of fans who want this to happen. And look at the likes. It’s half. Not all dislikes. Half dislikes. Proof that half are the typical old school people that can’t accept something new. Dante has had his time to shine. Now it’s time to re invent him for the new age

You do know that this article was written before the absolutely badass trailer which changed opinions for the majority to the better right?
