GOG.com begins the Hidden Gem sale, a new sale every day until the 25th

Rian Quenlin 08 Jul

Classic games retailer GOG.com has decided to have some sales to draw attention to some games that aren’t as widely popular or as well known games like Baldur’s Gate or Heroes of Might and Magic 3, but are nonetheless excellent titles that should not be ignored.

“As our catalog gets bigger and better every week, it’s easy to lose track of some of the awesome games that we have to offer. We’ve been running one day ‘Gaming Gem’ promos for a while now to highlight some classic titles that don’t get the love of some of our best-known blockbusters like Baldur’s Gate or Duke Nukem 3D. To celebrate summer, for the next two weeks until July 25th, we’re going to run a Gaming Gem promo every day, so you can rediscover these lesser-known classics! Grab that plastic toy shovel and dig out gem after gem over the next 18 days. We think every game we’re going to be offering on our Summer GOG.com Gem Extravaganza will be an excellent title, and we hope you give them all a try.”

There are a large amount of games that were absolutely excellent, but weren’t played by an awful lot of people in spite of excellent reviews. Games like Grim Fandango or Disgaea, both incredible games that could’ve and should’ve sold much better than they did. Keep an eye on GOG in the next few days for the rest of the month in case something catches your eye.

The first game on the list is Sanitarium, a psychological horror game with graphics not unlike the Infinity Engine games like Planescape: Torment. The game takes place in a world crafted from pure insanity. A very surreal game and a must-have for fans of point and click adventures. The sale on Sanitarium expires tomorrow and they’ll have another one up.

If you get Sanitarium and like it, I’ll recommend you the freeware horror/puzzle game the white chamber.
