We all know that the Wiimote controller is an accident waiting to happen, even with the wrist strap provided. I myself have yet to smash any TVs with the controller, but I’m 22 years old and my motor skills are top-notch.
A five year old in Bronx however had a slip-up, and wound up throwing the Wiimote at the family TV, breaking it. LCD screens are notably fragile, and even a five year old boy can break one. After the accident, his furious mother smacked him “harder than I’ve ever hit him”, and is now facing murder charges after suffering internal injuries.
Her son Jamar was not taken to the hospital because the mother fears she would be arrested when they saw the bruises, even though it could’ve saved him. After outright lying to the police following his death five days after the beating, she admitted she was furious over the broken TV. Jamar had died from infection related to injuries to his pancreas and intestines.
Even though her lawyer claims she should not be charged with murder, I believe that if you hit a five year old with all your strength, you are committing murder. I’m hoping this woman gets the death penalty. She is quoted as saying “The facts do not establish at all that this mother tried to kill her child. I have no idea whether hitting someone with their hand causes these kinds of injuries. It’s clear that for two days she was worked over by police.”
Maybe not to an adult, but a five year old is fragile, and something like that can very easily kill him. I’m not saying she intended to kill him, but she deserves to be charged with murder one. When you attack someone in anger as hard as you can, you are, once again, committing murder in my book. Worse yet, this woman has a rather long record of multiple offenses. I really want to know where the social workers were in this case.
