Riot Games, publisher and developer of the arena-based League of Legends have shown a small sneak at the new champion, Yorick the Gravedigger. The teaser image of Yorick shows a freakish glowing figure with a pumpkin-esque head and a shovel. In front of him are several hideous undead beasts crawling up from the surface to overwhelm his chosen target.
It’s likely that Yorick will be a summoner-type Champion for the game, amassing an army of undead of varying powerlevels of chase down and kill his enemies. His minions will probably function completely independently of him if this is the case, allowing Yorick to cover a sizable area of minion slaughtering letting him rack up sizable amounts of gold. That’s just my own speculation however.
Only a very small minority of champions can summon allies to assist themselves in battle, one being Annie who summons a freakish take on a stuffed animal who wipes out champions easily, and the new champion Orianna who manipulates a ball that works as a proxy for most of her techniques.
The peeps from Riot Games are present at E3, and once they have shown off their upcoming Champions for the game, they will republish it at the League of Legends website for the viewing pleasure of the public.
When more details are released on Yorick, I’ll post a followup.
