Microsoft doesn’t just want you to buy your games from them, they also want to become your sole content provider for television as well: Today they announced that they will be partnering with broadcast networks in the United States to provide live, streaming television delivered via Xbox Live.
In addition to live tv, Microsoft announced that users will soon be able to browse Youtbe videos via their 360. With live TV, Netflix, and now Youtube, Microsoft has turned the Xbox 360 into not just a game console, but a competitor to TV “set-top boxes” like Roku, or Apple TV… and with an installed base of gamers who have already been buying the system for the last five years, Microsoft has a definite advantage over Apple in the war for internet TV.
