Hideo Kojima, director of the Metal Gear Solid series has announced on his Twitter that he wont be attending E3 this year, a very sad announcement for those who were looking forward to his appearance. He wont be attending E3.
“Since I decided not to go to E3, I made an interview video hastily. Asked Mr. Mark MacDonald (former editor at EGM/1up.com) to be an interviewer.” is what he said on his English twitter account, and included a picture of himself and Mark MacDonald.
This is a rather big disappointment for those looking forward to news on the Metal Gear series. The reasons for him not appearing are unknown and might be due to being too busy, having nothing major to announce, or he simply isn’t satisfied with what he has. Kojima is known for being a perfectionist, meaning it could be the third option, or that he would be repeating things he has already said. He hasn’t said anything concrete so anything can be speculated until he makes an official word on his decision.
On the plus side, Kojima said in previous brief interviews that he would be recording an interview to make up for not showing up at this year’s E3. Kojima being unable to attend likely means that his division in Konami wont be announcing any titles. He is an incredibly busy man, but he has said a few times he will be planning something big for next year’s 25th anniversary for the Metal Gear series, and that Metal Gear Solid 3D will be released at the end of the year.
