The colossal entertainment company has announced they will be working on Disney Universe, an MMO with worlds based on their films from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, and Walt Disney Pictures. No shortage of content there at all.
The senior vice president of publishing Adam Sussman had said “Disney Universe is a vast treasure chest of Disney properties with memorable characters, places and experiences that gamers, as well as Disney fans will enjoy. The fast-paced, frenetic gameplay combined with wacky humour and hilarious situations make Disney Universe the perfect game to play with family and friends”
The game allows the players to customize their blue-skinned avatar with outfits resembling various Disney characters such as Alice, Stitch, and Tron. There are 40 in all, and the costumes will have their own abilities that upgrade as the game is played.
The worlds in the game will have missions that follow the storylines of the movies that they are based on. Being it’s Disney, Pixar, and their live-action movies, the variety of worlds could easily put Kingdom Hearts to shame in their size, quantity, and depth. The trailer follows, though it doesn’t show much. Although, I have seen multiple players use such tactics on an obvious puzzle in many games.
Though it’s clear this is aimed at a young audience, I’m certain gamers of all ages will be able to fully enjoy this. I would rather have an MMO with the crossover aspect of games like Kingdom Hearts, this is a pretty nice idea. There are very few MMOs aimed at younger audiences even in this age. I’m certain this will be an instanced multiplayer game much like Phantasy Star Online, so there is little chance of someone showing up and ruining absolutely everything.
