DiRT 3 to Require $10 Online Pass for Used Games

DiRT 3 to Require $10 Online Pass for Used Games

Nick Hernandez 23 May

With the release of Dirt 3 scheduled for tomorrow it comes with little surprise that Codemasters has added its name to the list of publishers who are attempting to keep customers away from purchasing pre-owned games. All versions of the game release tomorrow will also include a “VIP Pass,” which will unlock five exclusive cars and activate your online mode. Unfortunately, if you wait a week and buy the game used with the code already redeemed be prepared to shell out 800 Microsoft points (for Xbox Live) and $10 for PSN.

The whole new implication of online pass is just terrible in my opinion, as being a person that travels between multiple destinations I have 2 XBL accounts to keep things more organized and having the spend $10 to play my game which I just spent $300 on (for the ultimate edition) is just insane. Game companies have to keep making their millions and also long as more games such as this come out I will be fine with that.

Initially attracted to the space due to his kinship with the creative minds that tend to socialize through the gaming industry, and having played games all his life; it led to a natural willingness to learn more about both the people, and entities that drive innovation in the space. A self-confessed Conter Strike: Source aficionado he claims the aforementioned as his favourite game of all time, simply due to the sheer amount of hours he has spent in the game. An optimist by nature, Nick tends to see the best in everyone, even if they can’t in themselves.
