Sony is apparently choosing select players across Japan, the US, and Europe to test out Playstation Network in order to make sure that everything is in working order. The twitter account for Playstation Netherlands, @PlayStationNL, gave out a tweet that translates as follows: “Right now, a select group is testing the network in Asia, Europe, and America.”
NB: I would like to note that Twitter is having server issues at the time of writing, so it may be hard to view the relevant tweet.
If the users that are testing it across the globe just now, then PSN is likely to come back up sometime soon. Fingers crossed that this extended downtime comes to an abrupt end. The outage has been causing a lot of upset and anger on an international scale with the leaking of CC info, a loss of profits for countless companies, and games relying on DRM requiring a constant connection. A real dogpile of issues that show the biggest weakness of cloud technology.
