Sony isn’t the only company suffering from problems with account security right now. The FPS Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is suffering an issue where the matchmaking system can result in someone being exposed to a phishing attempt.
Unfortunately they’re rather skimpy on the details, which is poor form. Especially if I don’t know what I’m supposed to watch out for.
A small reminder, phishing scams work by trickery. If a Microsoft employee asks for your login details, he is a liar. If Bill Gates himself shows up at your door, it’s an imposter. If you’re given a link to login to, don’t click it. If you click a link and it says “You have been logged out”, don’t input anything into anywhere on the page.
With the leaking of countless amounts of data, I can see an increase in phishing scams directed at Steam, XBox Live, and World of Warcraft users, more than they usually have. Keep yourself safe and keep your account secure.
