In a recent interview with Eurogamer Crytek said that they want a minimum of 8GB of Ram in the next gen consoles, In regards to the issues they encountered while developing Crysis 2 for consoles heres what Crytek’s Principal Graphics Engineer Tiago Sousa had to say “My finger-pointing at Microsoft/Sony would really be on the memory side,”
“It’s way too low, and the biggest crippling factor from a visual perspective. I would really like to see next-gen console platforms with a minimum of 8GB of RAM.” I totally agree that next consoles need more Ram considering right now the Xbox 360 and Ps3 have only 512MB and on the PC side of things you need a minimum of 2GB of RAM to run Crysis 2. How they made that game work on the consoles just amazes me and imagine what developers would be able to do with that much RAM, it would be amazing. Let us know if you think that much RAM is necessary or overkill.

It makes sense that they could make it run on 512MB of RAM considering they can code to the hardware instead of relying on software, to make it compatible across all PCs thus requiring more memory and computation power. Though a console with 8GB of RAM would be insanely powerful considering, again, that developers would be coding right to the hardware, getting the most out of it.
