Today, it appears that Microsoft has released the long awaited update for Kinect-enabled Netflix control. Which means that you no longer need a controller to watch your favorite TV shows and movies but instead you can just wave your arms or yell at it to get it to do what you want.
We imagine Kinect will work in a pretty cursory capacity — as the announcement video demonstrated — with the release describing two options for accessing Netflix via Xbox 360: “With Xbox LIVE, take your Xbox 360 online and browse the full Netflix library to find the movie or TV show that you want, or launch Netflix from the Kinect Hub and select from one of the recommended titles using your voice and hand gestures as the remote control.” it sounds very limiting at best.
A Microsoft rep explained that you can only navigate “recommended films” through Kinect sub-Dashboard Netflix application will be selectable meaning you will still need to use a controller for most films, however, you can still control the videos with Kinect after they are start playing.
