Gamers were eagerly waiting to be treated to high quality visuals based on the beta release of Crytek’s Crysis 2, the sequel to the popular Crysis: Warhead. If the previous game was anything to go by, graphic cards could be in for the ultimate test! The recent release of Crysis 2 is evidence enough to support Crytek’s statements about the visuals in the game. Calling them superb would be an understatement and one would have to be blind to call them anything less. However, not everything is as mind blowing as Crytek claimed. There are some low quality textures and out of tune animations, but when the big picture is in sight, it is one of the most vivid games with a heavy load of special effects.
Crysis 2’s recent release has again sparked off the debate on the first person shooter with the best visuals. Coming to the console games, gamers all over the world would agree that PlayStation 3 exclusive games like the Killzone series and Uncharted: 2 are the epitome of graphics in this era of console games. Coupled to that would be Gears of War 2 on the Xbox 360. The Killzone series has set the bar rather high and many players are mesmerized by their aesthetics. However, thanks to the more vibrant setting of the game, which is in New York City, Crysis 2 seems ready to upstage Killzone. While Crytek leads the graphics bandwagon on the PC, it is entering a new playing field with console games. However, whether or not it can climb to the top even here, only time will tell.
The few gamers lucky enough to get their hands on the full version have lauded the quality of the models and the overall visuals. Videos released on the internet show the same. It may not be possible to judge from the videos but reports from players say that Crysis 2 is indeed the first person shooter with the best visuals. Crysis 2, best visuals or not, is bound to make its mark with an amazing gameplay and eye catchy aesthetics.
