Aksys Games, best known for localizing niche Japanese titles like the excellent 2D Fighter BlazBlue and the equally great DS adventure/puzzle game 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors, is running an extremely generous promotion in an effort to raise money to go towards helping those who were affected by the recent, devastating earthquakes and tsunami that tragically claimed the lives of over 3,000 people and made nearly half-a-million people homeless in Japan.
To do their part, Aksys has marked down the prices on a number of their games on their online website, and all money generated from this sale– that’s 100%, with Aksys making no profit off of them– will be donated to relief organizations working within Japan. So not only do you get to save some money by buying these games on a discount, you get to help out some genuinely needy people as well.
Personal recommendations from the sale include the before mentioned BlazBlue, as well as cult-favorite shooter Deathsmiles, which is available as a regular release (on sale for $20,) and as a limited edition package, which includes a soundtrack and a customized Xbox 360 faceplate, all for the ridiculously great price of $30.
The full list of games included in the sale/charity event can be found on Aksys’s website: http://www.aksysgames.com/2011/03/16/japan-benefit-sale/. The event ends March 24, so order soon.
