According to much hyped information coming in from Apple camps, the tech giant is all set to hold that much awaited event on March 2 where it will finally unveil the second version of its phenomenal iPad which almost single handedly brought about a tablet revolution in the world of computing. Of all the multitude of expectations from the iPad 2, the most noticeable ones are that the device will be thinner than its predecessor, which is saying something, and that it will also feature a better display which will be powered by Qualcomm’s newer multimode chips. The tablet will also be able to function around the world in both GSM and CDMA-based networks.
The last time Apple announced progress in the retail health of iPad was when they said that the popular tablet had sold more than 15 million units since being launched in spring last year. This in itself is a commendable achievement, even for Apple. However, the company will be facing much sterner competition this year with a plethora of tablets being launched by almost every major hardware firm in the world, most of which are based on the Google Android Honeycomb platform.
A number of inside sources have confirmed that the event will in fact be held on Wednesday and it will be held in San Francisco, a popular venue for most Apple events and in that scenario, it is very probable that it will be organized in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. It has not, however, been made certain when Apple plans to send out invites for the event. Apart from the launching of the much hyped product, another reason for the curious to keep an eye out for the event is to see whether Steve Jobs turns up for it or not. Jobs had recently been said to be suffering from a deadly cancer.
