The new peripheral released through Microsoft is nothing short of impressive, but many gamers or non gamers may still be on the fence if this is a product worth adapting to their setup. The capabilities of Kinect will no doubt improve over time, and like most hardware the developer market will need a few years to really pump out games that truly take advantage of all the power.
With that said, hard core gamers may not be waiting as long as they think. According to Microsoft, 2011 will be a big year in all forms of hardcore games whether you are holding a control or using Kinect. Many titles were mentioned in “code” during the Tokyo game show this year and most seem to appeal to the typical xbox gamer.
Microsoft has said that they are excited to introduce horror, adventure, and sci-fi titles in the future (remember the StarWars kinect demo). This is exactly the kind of news that I will need to hear to get a Kinect in my setup. The reviews for Kinect thus far have been fantastic and for the most part it seem to have got a great warm welcome into this very competitive gaming world.
More updates on Kinect titles in the future, but for now, have you purchased Kinect? what do you play? What concepts or games could you see working well in the future? Let us know!
