The recent news around the new Call of Duty game has been overwhelming almost and everywhere you look you can get enough of it. But that is not going to stop us from updating you!
Today, Activision announced that it was again on a path of setting records for their Call of Duty franchise. Now Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops has set a record for biggest entertainment launch in history with an approximated $360 million on opening day in North America and UK*. The last record goes to Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 with approximately $310 million opening day in North America and UK*.
On the first day, Black Ops sold around 5.6 million copies while Modern Warfare 2 sold around 4.7 million copies on their first day launch.
Here’s what the CEO of Activision, Bobby Kotick, has to say:
There has never been another entertainment franchise that has set opening day records for two consecutive years and we are on track to outperform last year’s five-day global sales record of $550 million. The game’s success underscores the pop culture appeal of the brand. Call of Duty: Black Ops is the finest game that Treyarch has ever made and raises the bar for online gameplay by delivering the deepest and most intense Call of Duty experience yet. The Call of Duty franchise has over 25 million players around the world that are engaged in billions of hours of online gameplay, and we are committed to supporting them with new content and features on a more frequent and regular basis.
These numbers aren’t surprising.. But you are 1 of the millions that contributed? Let us know what you think of the game now!

COD Black Ops is amazing and has spectacular details. It is my favourite game for the X-Box 360.
