EA and DICE never seem to amaze us gamers, just when you think they have announced a more than usual amount of up coming projects they arrive with even more wonderful news. Normally when a developer is working on a variety of projects at once, gamers tend to get antsy about the potential quality of the product but not for DICE. Announced today, VIP map pack 7 is on the way for the 5 million plus users that are still rocking Bad Company 2.
Call this clever marketing but do you think this announcement has anything to do with the release of Black Ops tonight. After the launch of Modern Warfare 2, many gamers hopped on board the Battlefield waggon due to the issues MW2 launched with, not to mention the game was incredible. Who knows maybe the details of this map pack will be enough to keep the population up in a great game like Bad Company 2, the details are as follows.
** Two original maps from Bad Company 1 have been slightly reworked to accommodate the new gameplay of the new game, but DICE promises these maps stay true to form. These maps of course are Oasis, and Harvest Day. Along with these original multiplayer maps, two environments from the Bad Company 2 campaign will also be turned into multiplayer environments. If you are familiar with the game you will be happy to hear that Cold War and Heavy Metal will be those levels making the jump to the world of multiplayer. DICE has said that “Heavy Metal” is one of the largest environments they have ever worked on.
Dont worry about these maps making the jump to a new redefined gaming engine, all maps being ported over will be optimized for lighting, sound, destruction. At the same time the objective components in the old maps may have to moved around a bit in order to compensate for the fact that building can be dropped to the ground. An example was made of the rush objectives being on the top of a building and how that would pose a problem. More details are due out this week, and so far no date has been announced for release. I wonder if this map pack will make it out before the launch of the “Vietnam” expansions promised this winter. In the world of modern combat FPS DICE has certainly provided more then enough reasons to keep digging into their games. Let us know if you will be playing Bad Company after the launch of Black Ops?
