Many Xbox users have become quite accustomed to calling their free Live service, Silver, as Microsoft has branded it as such and that tends to get stuck with someone when they see it every time they turn on their Xbox. Well, that is about to change come the next big update in November as Silver accounts will now be re-branded to, the more logical, Xbox Live Free.
The Silver service was always free and will continue to be, obviously. Now those that are hopping on the Kinect bandwagon that may be less familiar with the current subscription terminology, that gamers have become accustomed to, will know what they are getting. This will not change the limitations or features of the service however, which is fairly good news.
The announcement came through the Twitter account of Graeme Boyd, Xbox’s European Community Manager. I should also note that the Gold moniker will remain for those paying subscribers.
What do you think of the change?
