MSN junkies are rejoicing, being fans of the Microsoft messaging platform they are certainly more likely to also own Microsoft’s own portable media player as well, at least that what the Zune team heard from the official forums. Having the Windows Live Messenger app was a very requested application on the Zune forums and around the net. It is not available on the Zune Marketplace for any who already own the Zune HD, and will likely be ported soon to the Windows Phone 7 that is yet to be released, as it does not have it by default.
The odd thing about this app is that it will require you to be connected to wifi in order to use the messenger, now correct me if I am wrong but, would you not also have a smartphone or a computer handy while you are connected to a wireless network for an extended period of time. My point being that it seems it has a very limited number of practical uses to have the app, as the Zune HD does not have 3G and it being highly sought after seems odd to me, aside from the novelty of it of course.
What do you guys think, do you have access to wireless Internet often without another, more viable, platform to use Windows Live Messenger on?

I think they just did it because wp7 just recently announced the msn software will be coming to it so they just quickly ported it over to zune also so people can connect to it when they are sitting somewhere with open wifi waiting for the bus or something with no computer with them.
