Texas Instruments Develops Touchless Mobile Input Device

Do you hate those nasty fingerprints that are left all over your favourite touch screen, after typing away an e-mail; or how about when you are trying to play a game but your finger is right in the way of what you need to see. Well folks, it seems Texas Instruments and Extreme Reality (also known as XTR) have teamed up to bring you the perfect solution, a touchless gesture system for mobile devices that support the OMAP4 platform.

The device was shown off earlier this year at MWC, but the partnership was not made official until now. There is a video below to show off some of the basic functionality currently capable with the device with more advancements to come — including the ability to not only recognize simple gestures, but even things like whole body movements and two-handed gestures.
