What better way to relive those classic PS2 games you once cherished, other than by futurizing them. That is what Sucker Punch studios has decided to do for their much beloved Sly Cooper series for it’s entry on the PS3. Most PS2 games, such as the God of War series, has only received an HD upgrade when being ported to the blu-ray disc. The Sly Cooper trilogy took it one step further by implementing 3D as is becoming more regular on Sony’s machine.
How does this look you may ask. Well, I must say the HD version of Sly is quite beautiful, smooth textures, great resolution, it could pass as a high quality PSN game. Once the 3D glasses go on though it is another story, there may be some settings to be tinkered with, because all I saw was a blurred somewhat 3D image of a plane flying around and it instantly began to give me a headache. I was told that the level of 3D is adjustable but nothing really seemed to help. Perhaps it was the TV or maybe the batteries in the glasses were dying, it just did not look good and it made the game very unfun to play.
The level they were showing off what a pilot mission, where you are flying around shooting down enemy planes, now the controls for this felt very good, nothing has changed there in this upgraded version. It would have been a perfect experience without 3D. So, if you do pick this up and happen to have a 3D set I would recommend not enabling the 3D option in the game.
All that said, I am very excited for this collections release. I have only played the first game and loved it, but could not get past the poor textures on the PS2 version, even with component cables. Now I can fully enjoy this platforming experience. I also can not wait for the Jak & Daxter and Ratchet series to be redone in HD.

I really hope they do Ratchet and Clank in 3D then i will have an actual reason to use my PS3! and buy a set of super expensive glasses… yay! i want BLACK in 3D too…

I just hope they put more effort into the 3D so it look more like Killzone 3, which has nice 3D implementation.

I have something to mention, the release of the third Sly Cooper game came with 3D glasses. Playing it on 3D was mentally painful, just like your experience. I’d like to ask, have they spread 3D to all three games?
Apocacrux
Yes, this is the case. All three games now support 3D, luckily it is optional, even if you own a 3D TV.
